Celebrate 2023 with purpose: Reflect, Recharge, and Reset while Giving Back!

Now that 2023 is coming to an end, it is the perfect time to reflect, recharge, and reset before getting back into the swing of things in 2024. Want to end the year meaningfully? Here's a few things from our checklist!

The end-of-year holiday season is important to many people from all cultures and backgrounds, whether that is because they are celebrating religious holidays or spending the shortest and coldest days of the year huddled inside their warm homes. Either way, everyone loves to take some time to relax with loved ones and celebrate the completion of yet another wonderful year.

There are many ways you can end the year meaningfully by embracing sustainable practices while giving back to your community. Here are a few straight from our "end the year with a bang" checklist:

Reflect on 2023

As we bid farewell to the closing chapters of 2023, reflect on the many wonderful memories and challenges you've faced this year. Let our reflections serve as guiding lights that illuminate the path into the promising unknown of 2024. Taking a moment to recount the highs, lows, and everything in between, we find not just a year gone by but a collection of experiences that have shaped us. Taking time to reminisce on the memories you made this year can help you look forward to the new year more.

Have fun with loved ones

Plan a games night and potluck with your friends and family. Spending precious time with loved ones and having the time of your life with the people dearest to you are the best ways to end the year with a bang. Collect all the recyclable bottles and cans from your gathering and have Skip The Depot pick them up from the comfort of your home. This way, you don't need to worry about hauling your items to the bottle depot. Skip The Depot recycles bottles and cans and gives you the option to donate the proceeds to a charity like Women in Need Society (WINS).

Make space for new adventures this 2024

Welcome the new year by decluttering your space and going through your home to see which items still give you joy and which ones you need to let go of. Peter Walsh once said, "Clutter is not just the stuff on your floor – it's anything that stands between you and the life you want to be living." There are lots of ways to accomplish this without the stress, but the key is to keep it simple. Start with household items, goods, or clothes that you no longer need and donate them instead. Gently used household items and

clothing can be donated to any WINS location in Calgary. You can also recycle any bottles and cans that

are waiting in your garage by contacting Skip the Depot today.

As we reset and recharge, let gratitude be our compass and anticipation our fuel. Here's to celebrating the year that was, embracing the lessons it bestowed, and stepping into the new year with hearts full of hope, ready to write another chapter in our journey. May the reflections of 2023 guide us toward a 2024 filled with growth, kindness, and boundless possibilities.

Happy New Year from all of us at WINS!
