At WINS, everything we do is rooted in one core belief: no woman should have to rebuild her life alone.
Founded in 1992 out of necessity, WINS was created by a woman who fled domestic violence with nothing but the clothes on her back. In that moment, she recognized a harsh reality - there were very few resources available for women facing crisis, poverty, or instability. What started as an act of survival became a response to a community need that was going unmet.
From the very beginning, WINS was built by women, for women - grounded in empathy, lived experience, and the belief that dignity matters.
Why WINS Exists
WINS exists to support women and their families as they move through challenging moments in their lives and work toward stability and independence. The reasons women come to WINS are as varied as their stories , fleeing violence, navigating poverty, starting over in a new country, or simply needing support during a difficult transition.
There is no single path forward, which is why WINS does not take a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, we meet women where they are, offering flexible, responsive supports that evolve alongside their needs.
Whether a woman comes to WINS for basic needs, employment training, or community programs, she is met with respect, choice, and care.
Support Rooted in Dignity
Dignity is at the heart of the WINS approach. Support is never about handouts, it’s about empowerment. Women are encouraged to make choices that work best for themselves and their families, building confidence along the way.
This philosophy carries through everything we do, from how programs are designed to how services are delivered. WINS is a place where women are seen for their strengths, not just their circumstances.
Community Makes It Possible
WINS’ impact is made possible by the Calgary community. Donors, volunteers, corporate partners, staff, and shoppers all play a role in supporting women and families across the city.
Every dollar raised through donations, partnerships, and social enterprise stays right here in Calgary. That means local support creates local impact, strengthening families and communities close to home.
When Women Thrive, Communities Thrive
When women are supported, families become more stable. When families are stable, communities grow stronger. This ripple effect is what drives WINS forward every day.
More than three decades after its founding, WINS continues to evolve, responding to community needs while staying true to its purpose. Why Wins | WINS Calgary

This is a commendable initiative by MOCA. The 10-week course enhances local capacity and builds regional partnerships for integrity assurance. It's excellent to see collaboration with Canadian instructors. For tools related to documentation, I recommend checking out Voice Typing for efficient voice-to-text solutions.
WINS is amazing! Poor Bunny game
Cobb can move is a top-down survival horror game where players navigate dark dungeons to escape a red monster. The gameplay focuses on strategy and stealth rather than combat, requiring careful observation of the environment to avoid detection.
I love how WINS goes beyond just thrift stores to create real community impact! ragdoll playground How do you think the support services have evolved since they started? Any stories that stand out?
